the concrete is poured .. sing praise please ..

my prayers have been answered .. the gods are happy .. the stars are aligned .. we are pouring concrete for the basketball goal that has parked itself in my driveway for the last 2 weeks .. now .. if i could just find my lip gloss that i lost during the bar fight during the boat show life would be good .. anyway .. before you can pour concrete into a 4 foot deep hole you must make a form from 2 by 4's .. you need some rebar to drive into the ground to hold the 2 by 4's in place .. and since rebar comes in really super long pieces you have to have a big saw and a dad nearby to cut it up .. this part WAS NOT in the directions by the way .. a dad and a big saw were not listed as items that you would need .. thank goodness mine lives up the hill ..
see 2 by 4's .. and dad is hammering the cut-up rebar into the ground to hold the forms in place ..

a 4 foot deep hole .. with more rebar sticking up in it .. this rebar had to be placed just so because the big "J bolts" have to be close to it .. i don't know why .. so please don't ask ..

look .. big bags of concrete .. where have you been all my life .. and i think that they might just be a little bit on the heavy side .. oh .. you need some help .. gosh .. i can't .. i need to go and lay down with cash .. it is time for his nap .. i will come right out after he falls asleep though ..

so jeff poured the bags of concrete into the bucket on dads tractor .. a tractor .. that was another item that was not on the list of things you need to install a mammoth basketball goal ... a tractor wth a big bucket on the front  ..

.. an unattended hose with a sprayer on the end .. i can just imagine what would be happened with this .. this has cash and disaster written all over it .. thank gosh he was napping ..

so you spray some water into the bucket that has the concrete in it ..

you mix it up with a shovel ..

shovel some into the hole and then dad pats it down and makes it smooth with a hoe ..

look how pretty it is .. i love blue sky with white clouds .. where have you been jeff asks .. inside .. remember i had to lay down with cash .. he likes for me to scratch his back .. like ms. penny and ms. tracy at school do .. i had to do it jeff .. i didn't want him to cry .. why .. oh did you need me to help you lift 100 pound bags of concrete and then rip them open and pour them into the bucket on the tractor and get covered in that yucky gritty gray dust .. have it cover my hair and go up my nose and in my ears and under my nails .. oh gosh ..babe .. i think that i need to work on dinner .. let me get that started and then i will come right back out .. ok ?

and there it is .. a 4 foot hole in the ground that is full of concrete .. just waiting for the basketball goal to be installed .. and look the concrete is still wet .. quick kids .. go and get a stick .. lets write our name in daddy's concrete ...
