when there is even the smallest chance of snow in the forecast the rhythmm of my house changes .. the kids suddenly are almost giddy .. there is a little extra energy in their bodies .. we better get our "stuff" ready for tomorrow .. it is going to snow .. we are going to be out of school .. i just know it .. they find the ski bag that i have yet to finish packing back up and put away .. they dig thru it .. looking for mittens .. ski pants .. big coats .. goggles .. ski socks ..
once all the "stuff" they might need is located .. it is laid out carefully in their bedrooms .. why can they not do this with their school clothes .. that is another post .. they walk around the house with a nervous energy .. it's going to snow tomorrow mom .. they say .. we are going to be out of school they tell me numerous times .. trying to get them to go to bed is a nightmare .. they are wound so tight with excitement they can't close their eyes .. all this drama over a little a few little water droplets ..
really ..
i will admit though .. that after they go to sleep .. i get out sticks and sticks of butter .. because by golly .. if it is going to snow that means that we are going to stay home and play in the snow and bake all day ..
i told you .. the chance of snow does weird things to my household ..
