the transformation ..

remember the bike that jeff got ellie when she turned 5 .. the pretty pink barbie bike .. well .. it has been recycled and turned into a blue way cool dude boy bike ..

and .. like all of jeff's other projects .. everyone at the shop has to be involved .. ryan got to swap out the girly white tires with ..

more manly black ones .. with extra tread so that my dirt lovin 4 year old can peel out and leave big black marks all over my driveway ..

also had to swap out the seat and pedals .. pink flowers and purple butterflies are not cool if you are a dirt lovin boy that has turned 4 ..

see .. cool black seat ..

also had to ditch the barbie pad that goes across the handlebars so that when you crash you don't crack your head open .. and no .. we did not replace this part .. jeff could not find one .. of all parts to not replace .. the one that protects your head ..

this also had to come off .. i suggested that we just put a piece of gray tape over the word girl and write in the word boy .. that would so go along with the recycled theme of the bike .. i got a big huge NO on that suggestion ..

and then the paint .. the dirt lovin stinky 4 year old boy loves blue ..

this was noah's job .. so he sanded and sanded .. because he is pretty close to a perfectionist and he wanted the dirt lovin 4 year old boy's bike to be perfect .. after it was sanded smooth he hung it and painted it with several coats of paint .. it was then reassembled and brought home and placed so carefully in the living room .. so that when the dirt lovin 4 year old boy woke up on his birthday he saw it ..

he then became a dirt lovin 4 year old boy with a recycled blue bike that has about 80 man hours in it ..

i don't think that i will ever give this bike away .. way to much love in it ..

he wants to put a basket on front of it like ellie has .. so that he can put this doll big truck in it and take him on rides .. like ellie does with her dolls ..

i will let you know when that happens ..
