standing at the sink ..

as i stood at my kitchen sink and watched the sunset i thought about my day .. 

i was doing dishes because my dishwasher has blown up ..

i can't decide if i should pay to have this one fixed or get a new one ..

dishwashers are not very exciting .. refrigerators yes .. dishwashers not so much ..

i will keep you posted ..

as i stood watching the sunset i thought about all that we did today ..

it was not a million things on a list kinda of day but we were still productive ..

we went over the big abc's and the little abc's ..

we went over spelling words ..

we went over science vocabulary ..

we went over literature vocabulary ..

we went over geography vocabulary ..

we counted backwards from 20 ..

we wrote the big abc's ..

we did our multiplication flashcards ..

we read ..

we did laundry ..

we watched it rain ..

we watched a movie ..

we made a roast ..

we made strawberry shortcake ..

we cleaned out the catchall drawer ..

i would have to say .. it was a pretty good day ..

beach night ..

the last night in puerto rico yamaha had a big white linen dinner party .. 

ellie loves the big gala nights .. cash not so much .. 

since cash had showered with soap and combed his hair i took pictures ..

who would not want to sit next to this well behaved child during a formal dinner party ..

for the record .. cash passed out right after the salad .. 

thank goodness they had cleared his plate ..

first day ..

because granny and grandpa are home we can take our first day of school picture ..

because unless granny is in the picture it is NOT the first day of school .. 

they're home ..

boat races ..

while cash and i were waiting for ms. barbara and speech therapy we looked thru a magazine .. 

it was one of those crafty parents magazines .. 

it had an article on making boats out of lids and a river out of foil and having races .. 

we have been saving lids all summer ..

wondering which ones would make the best boats 

this is my boat .. 

ellie made 2 .. a big one and a little one ..

this is cash's boat ..

here is our river .. 

you put the hose at one end and make the foil run downhill a bit .. 

cash kept moving my boat out of the way .. 

he cheats ..

what you don't see is lucky the dog ..

he thought this was a fun game to ..

he would wait at the end and then sneak up and grab the kids boats and then run off ..

lucky chewed up the boats and ruined the sails .. 

the kids screamed and cried ..

i laughed .. aloud .. uncontrollably ..

the baby bucket ..

this idea started with the baby bucket of toys .. cash wanted to get it down .. 

he wanted to play with the airplane ..

this led to the discovery of the tea set that ellie played with when she was a baby ..

this then inspired the tea party idea ..

so ..

cash set the table .. table cloth .. napkins .. even the napkins rings .. 

we had ham sandwich's .. gold fish ..

strawberries and baby carrots .. 

they sat and had conversation and  listened to classical music for 30 minutes ..

they practiced their manners .. 

ellie .. why cash this is a lovely table ..

cash .. oh ellie these carrots are perfect .. they are so sweet ..

ellie .. would you like one scoop or two of sugar in your tea ..

cash .. oh !! 2 scoops please ..

ellie .. no cash .. just 1 is enough ..

they invited their friends .. this is "airplane"

and "spot"

we are having another tea party tomorrow if you want to stop by ..

about noon .. 

Let's float

we took a break yesterday and floated the illinois river ..

we ate pringles and drank diet coke and sucked water out of our canoe .. 

it had a small leak .. thank goodness for the aqua zooka water guns .. 

we rode in a hot bus .. our legs got all sweaty and stuck to the seats .. 

we carried canoes .. or some of us carried canoes .. 

we paddled ..

we found a rope swing .. 

we sat and played in the water and made the call of the wild man sounds ..

most of all we just relaxed and didn't worry about work stuff .. 

we bet each other if we could sit in the current and throw rocks at a tree and hit it ..
